How to Make Temporary Tattoos Using an Eyeliner Pencil

Step 1.

Come up with your temporary tattoo design. To get great results, first sketch your idea on paper. This helps avoid mistakes. Use a simple pencil and keep in mind: Your temporary tattoo should have clean, simple lines. Thin or intricate designs tend to blur quickly and become unrecognizable. Stick to clear shapes. Then select the size of your tattoo. Large tattoos look freshly hand-drawn, while small ones resemble real tattoos better. Choose a design you like.

Step 2.

Pick an eyeliner pencil. Visit any cosmetics store and buy a regular eyepencil that needs sharpening, without shimmer or oils—this helps it last longer on skin. Black looks classic, but feel free to experiment with other colors—burgundy, blue, purple. Practice drawing your chosen design with the pencil to learn pressure control and smooth lines.

Step 3.

Now draw your design on your skin with the eyeliner pencil. Make sure it matches your desired look; if not, wash it off and try again. Choose skin areas with minimal hair and dry patches. Use cotton pads for blending and shading.
